Park. Forest. Village.
Park Forest Village is a post-WWII suburban development in the eastern United States. In conversation the name flows by like any other generic development name. But pause to give each word meaning: Park. Forest. Village. Each segment holds a specific view of our culture's definition of nature. Mashed together it reveals one of our most pressing problems—we want it all. The neighborhood is a reflection of these views. Scraggly oak trees tower above manicured lawns. After a rain shower, the neighborhood smells like a forest; then, a car passes, bringing a whiff of exhaust.
